Beat Street continues to bridge gaps between students and established arts professionals. Whether a performer at one of our fundraisers or an artist in residence, you can always catch a live art performance of some sort when visiting the gallery.
A workshop designed to introduce students to music as a whole, not just the main focus being one instrument. I’ve designed a course load that will discuss music theory with intent to integrate a digital platform allowing an easier understanding on how music both on an analog and digital scale go hand in hand in 2021. I think this would be a good way to help students find their way to pick a direction that sincerely interests them. There will be an extensive model designed to highlight instruments that originate from Africa. We will utilize Ableton software as a teaching tool. Ableton will be installed on all the tablets and computer racks. This work shop will also use the MIDI controllers. This will be instructed by Ofield Williams. I have included an example of how a class will run during a workshop. It includes a break down of the homework as well.

Beat Street takes pride in the musicians, students, and artists alike that we meet along the way. Here you can find some of our favorites hanging in the neighborhood or playing in that studio on Beat Street.
