BEAT STREET

Introduction to Projection Mapping

With our community constantly evolving and ideas recycled regularly, Beat Street aims to stir the pot by forcefully clashing two prominent types of performance art, creating something beautiful yet unfamiliar.

As VJ’ng becomes more common, its laws of production become easier to break. It’s become more inclusive and in a lot of cases, it’s been placed in the category of media arts.

The introduction to projection mapping will steer media artists in a direction that best suits they’re creative output. Projection mapping, similar to video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technique used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into display surfaces for video projection.

Projection mapping will be the foundation behind the soon to come workshops, “Video Design for VJ’s”, and “Scoring for Video Design”.
